Join Our USAH Team

We are recruiting a new Training and Community Engagement Officer for our Uniting Staffordshire Against Hate Team.

What will you do?

The role of a Training and Community Engagement Officer is an exciting and diverse one. You will be responsible for engaging with communities, including those most at risk of or directly impacted by hate crime, to improve awareness and understanding of hate crime, how to report it and how to access our specialist support service. You will do this in a variety of ways including by delivering awareness raising sessions and activities and attending events. You will also provide initial information, advice and guidance to victims of hate in the community and facilitate referrals into our specialist support service. You will be responsible for the development of meaningful and trusted relationships between communities and the service, so that the people who need our support know how to and are confident to access it. You will also be responsible for delivering our awareness raising training to professionals and communities.

Flexibility is a key characteristic of all our posts, and the post-holder may be asked to carry out other tasks consistent with the grade from time to time.

This role is based at our offices in Hanley but most of your time will be spent working in communities across Staffordshire and regular travel is a key part of this role.

Join Our Community Debt Team

We are recruiting a new Debt case worker for our Community Debt Team.

What will you do?

The post-holder will carry a specialist caseload, providing advice and casework covering the full range of debt issues and solutions. This includes but is not limited to, dealing with emergencies, making use of the Breathing Space scheme, making offers of repayment, drafting financial statements, advising on insolvency options and providing budgeting advice. They will ensure that income maximisation is carried out and refer to other in-house advisers or specialist agencies as appropriate.

Volunteer with us in Leek

We are looking to recruit volunteers to work within our Leek offices.

 

What will you do?

 

● Complete an introduction to Citizens Advice and training for your role

● Talk to clients over the phone, face to face, or online to explore what problems they need support with

● Find information about the clients’ problems and help them to understand their options

● Support clients to take action to resolve their problems. This might include drafting or writing letters, making phone calls, or referring the client to another organisation

● Write a summary of the clients’ problems and what action you’ve taken

● Look out for problems’ that are common, or are unfair, and write a short report about the problem or a letter to an elected official like an MP, AM or local councillor

 

Ideally we ask for 8 hours per week, which can be over one day or spread over two days, for at least 12 months.
